Start by typing your search term in the MNCAT Discovery search box on the library home page.

Use the Library Catalog tab to limit your search to physical titles. After typing your search term, click on the Search button.

Your results list will include titles that contain the keywords you typed. If multiple versions of a title exist, such as different editions of the work published in earlier or later versions, you will be able to view the list.

To see availability and the "Get It" Request button, you must log in to "My Account" with your UMD Internet ID and password.

Highlight a listing to view the item's availability and to see whether it has the option of being requested through Get It.

Note: Generally, books categorized as Ref or Reference do not circulate and must be used in the library.

When an item is listed as "Item in Place," it means the title is not checked out. To receive the material sooner, choose an item in place rather than an item on loan.

If a title you need is on loan, though, you do have the option of using Get It to recall it from the current borrower.

Click on Get It to place your request.

You will be prompted to choose a pickup location from the drop-down menu.

Faculty and staff with on-campus addresses have the option of choosing Office Delivery instead of a campus library pickup location.

Choose Martin Library if you wish to have the item saved for pickup at the Circulation desk.

That's it! You will see the message "Request placed" as your confirmation.

As soon as the item you requested is available, you will receive an email. Come to the Library Circulation Desk, 1st floor, to pick up your item.
